In the United States, the On the Run convenience store brand is owned by TMC Franchise Corporation (TMC), a subsidiary of Alimentation Couche-Tard (ACT), a Canadian convenience store company. TMC has granted an exclusive license to use the brand in over 46 states to Parkland (U.S.) Holding Corp., a subsidiary of Parkland, a Canadian fuel company that owns the brand in Canada. ACT and its affiliates own, operate, and/or license other convenience store brands including Circle K, Couche-Tard, Macs, Kangaroo Express, and Corner Store. Globally, ACT is the second largest convenience store company, with over 15,000 stores operated under those brand names.
ACT acquired the On the Run sites and brand name in the U.S. in 2009. Today, the majority have been converted to Circle K company-operated sites, but a number of On the Run franchise locations remain open in various parts of the U.S.
